Finally, over a year since my last practicing video I’ve got myself a new full-sized keyboard, the M-Audio KeyStation 88es, and can finally finish learning Mad World.

If you wanna know how I learned to play this, check out the Piano Tutorials playlist on my YouTube channel. Also subscribe if you want to see how I do on the other pieces I’m about to start practicing on and how I progress as a non-note-reading bastard :)

  • [..YouTube..] okay cool I will check that out.. Another one I have been trying and it sounds really good is: 4Front Truepianos.
  • [..YouTube..] Kk it sounded like you didn't understand how a midi controller worked.

I use Pianoteq, a modelled piano (no sampels, just mathematical formulas) and it sounds pretty good.
  • [..YouTube..] I know that but I want to know exactly what plugin he is using.

I am using Steinberg's The Grand 2 right now and it sounds incredible
  • [..YouTube..] Any synthesizer.

VST, any plugin for a DAW, a hardware synth, the list goes on.
  • [..YouTube..] The Keystation is a midi controller.... so what are you using to get the sound?
  • [..YouTube..] actually went out nd bought a keyboard yesterday cuz i watched this

    immense
  • [..YouTube..] 10 out of 10
  • [..YouTube..] For the most part, yup.
  • [..YouTube..] Yes, the song is played with just the left hand but u can sing with the right if u want..at least thats what i like to do...VVVVVVVVVVVVV
  • [..YouTube..] yes, just the left hand if you want to sing or u can always do the right and sing along with it...thats what i do
  • [..YouTube..] Nice one. But since you're playing the vocals too, does this mean that the piano part is actually one hand?
  • [..YouTube..] well, about the C flat, that isn't used alot because it is the same as a B. C sharp means that you play the C a half tone higher, so thats the black key next to the C.

but if you need to play like a B flat, you play the black key on the left of the B. thats how it works with all flats and sharps;)
    i hope that helped you:P
  • [..YouTube..] Thanks. Not quite sure how to answer how long I've been playing since I really don't actually know how to play :) What I do is I watch someone play something, then I just mimic the movement of the hands and the positioning of the fingers/pressed keys and I keep doing it over and over till I've memorized it. I would love to actually be able to read notes, know what the hell a C Flat or Sharp etc means and learn the ability to hear what a given note/chord is then just play it on the keyboard.
  • [..YouTube..] I like it. How long have you been playing?
  • [..YouTube..] ok, thanks a lot, so this can only really be used in a studio setting or at home?

    Ps. nice playing
  • [..YouTube..] When it's hooked up to your computer and you're playing any instrument in whatever program you like it's live per se and theres no noticable delay etc. but it's not live in the manner of just dragging it along anywhere and playing "live" getting sound from it without a computer and software\instrument to control.
  • [..YouTube..] sorry for my ignorance, but is it possible then to use this live? and can you play at home through a computer without being recording, as in just playing like streaming? If you see what i mean. Is the only way to play it by hooking it up to a computer?
  • [..YouTube..] Thanks dude, this video did wonders for me learning the song :)
  • [..YouTube..] little fast but otherwise good
  • very intresting
