Crysis Warhead - Stealth Infiltration
After switching over to OS X, the only gaming I’ve gotten done has been on my Xbox 360. But now that S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky and Crysis Warhead is out I couldn’t resist a boot into Windows to play these bastards.
One of my favorite games of all time is Deus Ex, and whenever I get the chance in any other game, I like to play it stealth-style and explore the environment instead of just rushing through it all - So don’t expect to see a speedrun or shooting skillz video above. Swimming to the submarine alone took at least 5 minutes!

[..YouTube..] I edited it in Sony Vegas with a project setting of 480×360, 1:1 aspect ratio, 30fps.Then I rendered/exported it using those settings + for video compression I used H264 on a first-pass then Nth pass, audio uncompressed.After all that was done I used VirtualDubMod to extract the audio track, compress it as MP3 @ 128kbps (stereo) in GoldWave to replace the uncompressed audio track using VirtualDubMod again.
[..YouTube..] And yeah don’t do any sort of de-interlacing/frame blending etc. unless you want ghosting and trailing, given that the source is from a PC and doesn’t need it of course ;)
[..YouTube..] Oh silly me I forgot the most important part (if you’re wondering how to get the video in high quality on YouTube) The bitrate for the video must be at least 600kbps for H264 or 900kbps for MPEG4.I got all the info from the video with the watch-ID “hLtTNE61iik” if you wanna check it out.
[..YouTube..] I know what you mean about going “stealth style”. You just feel very…professional picking the bad guys off one by one without them realizing it. Plus, it’s always better to get the jump on your enemies rather than the other way around. Nice video, dude.
[..YouTube..] They could have written a proper graphics engine instead of making something un-omptimized requireing way more than actually needed compared to the graphics.If you go by the Crysis-definition of good graphics then STALKER Clear Sky must surely have better graphics than Crysis right? Because Clear Sky requires a waaaay more powerful computer than Crysis to be able to run it relatively smooth.FarCry 2 seems to run just fine on the 360, I guess it got the better half of the old cryengine team.
[..YouTube..] Actually stalker DOES have better graphics. It’s a subjective thing though, crysis has sterile environments with lots of generic objects and a bauhaus nature. Clear sky has modelling and texturing that puts crysis on it’s knees and several pretty effects, like full dynamic shadows and lightning (just watch as the shadows of the trees move along with the sun) or god rays. Those two approaches are unique to the games though - stalker is all about the atmosphere, and crysis is about action.

[..YouTube..] Actually, when I built this machine I also helped a buddy of mine build a similar machine with those cards, and tried ‘em both with Crysis. On my machine there were no difference at all but on his it ran a bit smoother. The only difference between our machines except the GFX cards is the CPUs. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and he has a Core 2 Quad 2.8GHzIn other words, just get whichever one you want because they are pretty much the same.
