Bioshock CAN run on old graphics cards
Just look at this, it’s actually running pretty smooth on my “outdated” X850XT PE. ScottJG, WarAnakin and Phazz over at the 2K Forum have been fooling around with the shader file for the game, manually going over all the code and tweaking it little by little making it possible to play the game on Shader Model 2.0 cards with decent looking graphics and performance, it’s not quite there yet but it’s closing in. Read on for solution downloads and installation instructions, updated each release!
NOTE: I’ve removed the links to all the patches as I no longer update or maintain this list. To get the latest versions and installation instructions visit www.paolofranchini.com/shshock

[..YouTube..] You card already support PShader 3.0, there’s no way you could have a problem with that. In a way that’s a better card to play this game. Did you updated your drivers and the game?
[..YouTube..] when I recorded this video I had a P4 3,4GHz, 2GB ram and X850XT PE.I now have a C2Duo 2,4GHz, 4GB ram and HD3870. Haven’t tried BioShock after that though, I use Mac OSX most of the time on my new machine.
[..YouTube..] P.S. for more detailed information about my previous setup; It’s all in my CoD4 video description.
